My Art Journal

I want a billion different things in life. I want to experience so many things, try so many things, accomplish so many things. All of them changing, as I do. I knew I needed a spot to start writing about all of these things I want, to document it all, to keep my overactive mind from switching into overdrive.

This is how my new art journal was born. A place to collect all of these thoughts and put them on paper. A place to write in detail about the things that I want. A place to add pictures of my life, the things in it that I'm in love with. And a place to add photos that inspire me- photo's of places I want to see and things I want to create.

It's a beautiful thing... to have such a passion for life. However, it'll keep me from actually doing anything with my life if I don't find a way to organize it all. Once it's all down on paper and I've written about it, I can finally start to focus all of my energy into accomplishing these things instead of just thinking about them. A place to document my heart's deepest desires.

My simple title was inspired by the "I want" scene in The Notebook.
Young Noah: "Would you stop thinking about what everyone wants? Stop thinking about what I want, what he wants, what your parents want. What do YOU want? What do you WANT?"
Young Allie: "It's not that simple."
Young Noah: "WHAT. DO. YOU .WANT? Whadday want?"

Vellum, florals, gold, glitter, hand lettering.... only the prettiest things will do when it comes to documenting all of these beautiful ambitions. I've only just started a couple of weeks ago and I look forward to sharing more bits and pieces from it, as more is completed. For now, here's a basic tour. I'm trying to give a little structure to my art journal. Categorizing my wants into broad categories like "family" and "travel." We'll see how that goes. Right now it's a "no rules" zone. If I want to make a traditional layout, I do. If I want to make a pocket page/project life type of layout, I do. If I want to write a novel or write nothing at all and only share a photograph... I do.

This "I want" art journal has quickly become one of my absolute favorite things. Just for me. And what's not to love about that?

xoxo,
Laura

It's like you took the words right out of my brain and put them on your blog and your art journal. Then you quoted Notebook! *goes for a big hug*
