While working on my Michigan Vacation mini album handbook, I knew I wanted to try a few new techniques that I've seen around and loved, but never tried myself. And so, somehow, in this layout, I managed to try 3 NEW techniques for me and I am so in love with the result.
Technique number one- try see through pockets with a flair button embellishment. (I've done these pockets before with sequins and wood veneer, but never with flair buttons!)
Technique number two- print a full page photo. (I adore how this came out in my handbook and I can't wait to give it a try in my 12x12 album.)
Technique number three- worded phrase inserts. I love seeing people add little paper inserts into their albums. I especially love seeing die cut phrases or words sitting on top of a layout. The adorable black and white phrases in this month's Nine & Co embellishment pack were perfect for this. I just grabbed my hole punch and added it to the rings in my binder so that it sits on top of one of my pages. I love the extra detail and interest these kinds of extras add to an album!
I'm really glad I took the leap and tried new things with this mini album. When trying to catch up in Project Life, it's easy to try and take the simple route, just getting the photos in and moving on, but then you might miss out on a chance to make something truly lovely. Have you tried any new techniques lately?

DeleteLooks great! I am so in love with that "enjoy the journey" button! ;)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing? I'm in love with it too! I'm a victim of loving good scripted phrases!
DeleteLove how you used the scripted words. I didn't manage anything so clever. :( I may have to borrow this idea because I really love them and wanna use 'em! Thanks for the inspo. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, girl! I LOVE this idea and I totally got it from instagram inspiration (not my idea, at all!) Sometimes our best ideas come from others <3 And your project life spreads themselves are just so beautiful. Your use of white space makes my heart so happy!
DeleteSimply lovely! Love the script word as an insert. Can't wait to try that technique!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anabelle! I hope you love it in your album, too!
DeleteSo beautifully simple and elegant Laura, love, hugs
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Joy!

ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteAwesome! I didn't notice what you had done with the So Happy die cut at first and when I went back through and looked again, I thought it was brilliant! You guys are so cute, too ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rebecca! It was the only way I could figure out how to make it "pop" on my page without looking too "a child took paste and glued things on my photos!" haha
DeleteYour design style always makes me happy! I'm still gathering pictures and things. Should have something over to you soon. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Jessah! I can't wait to see them <3 I'm so excited to work on that project!
