My 24th Birthday- Project Life Spread

Hello gorgeous people,
I hope you all had a super wonderful weekend- it was cold here in Charlotte. But the great part about icky weather, is all the excuses I have to stay in and craft all day. Finally getting around to sharing my birthday spread with you guys, today! I turned 24 last month and I knew I'd be making a pretty big deal about it in my project life album because I was going to start the birthday tradition! The birthday tradition is a great idea from Rebecca, who documents a number of things she's grateful for each year on her birthday.
So this year I decided to document 24 things I am thankful for in my 24th year. (I just love how relaxed and easy this idea is compared to an annual gratitude journal.) Oh, and I also added a glitter surprise page, just for fun!

I didn't do much on my birthday, that's why there's not a whole lot going on. I stayed home and took off work, Stephen came home from work with a bouquet of red roses for me, then we went to the movies and back home for an early night. It was lovely to just slow down and relax before all the hustle and bustle of the holidays.
I used the Sunshine edition core kit, and the Polka Dot Party mini kit for this project life layout. I adore how feminine and girly it is. All about the birthday girl, for sure! How do you document your birthday?

xoxo,
Laura

  5. I left you a comment on another page of your big but I'm not sure if it published because i didn't get the "your comment will be visible after approval" message. So i will retype it and forgive me if you did get it...so it was basically talking about how your pl style is my favorite. Ive seen so many YouTube videos and am always drawn and envy the ones with"white space". I am guilty of using my phone to take photos and like you said they are warm and fuzzy. I can change to a digital camera but how do i get more white space in my photos? I'm a stay at home mom so most of my photos are indoors. I can't really stage my photos to have white everywhere. I have a4 year old that often times does things i wanna capture while lying on a brown leather couch in a Batman t shirt. Ugly photo but its our life. Thing is i hate my pl spreads and my photos. I wanna take a picture of my breakfast but my countertops are grey/black marble and my dining table is brown. Help me achieve what you have without redecorating my house lol and staging my sons clothes/surroundings....

    1. Hey Janicke, I love that you love my project life style! When I say white space, I usually mean in my cards! I do edit my photos (a lot of mine are taken inside as well, with darker colors or lighting) before I print them to make them a little brighter. Over all though, I bring in white space using the other cards (not photos) in my layouts. I print a lot of my photos 2x2 size and then put them onto 3x4 or 4x6 white cardstock, giving me lots of white space around my photos. I also try to use a lot of filler cards with white space- the midnight edition core kit is great for that. If you specifically want to work on your photos, here are a few tips- buy the Afterlight app, I think its $0.99 or $1.99 and its fantastic, you can easily brighten and lighten your photos after you take them. Next tip would be to photograph onto a white background whenever possible. A carpet, a white wall, white curtains, whatever can serve as a lighter background for you. And take photos next to a window whenever you can!
