1989 Project Life Cards Freebie

I'm madly obsessed with Taylor Swift's 1989 album (as I always am with every album she releases.) Taylor recently went and trademarked a ton of phrases from her new album so that designers and manufacturers cannot use her phrases on their merchandise and make money. Basically, she doesn't want anyone to make money off of her words (even if it's their art with her words.) Which, took me a while to understand, but now I totally get.

The great thing is that, while people cannot make things using T.Swizzle's new lyrics and sell them, they can still make them and use them! As long as they don't make money off of it. Which is great because, well, 1989 is filled with amazing catchy phrases. And so, in honor of my love for these words, I'm sharing them with you today, for free, as part of my A Year of Kindness project! I chose lyrics that are all about love- in honor of Valentine's day.

You can download these free 1989 project life cards here.

Free New Years PL Printables

In December, I shared my plan to give free printables away to my followers every month in 2015. (See that post here.) Well, today I'm sharing my first set of free printables for January- New Years themed Project Life cards. I've already printed a set out for myself and used them in my new album!

A Year of Kindness- Free 8x10 Printables

When thinking about 2015 and changes I want to make and things I want to do, I realized that more kindness is exactly what I want to give to the world. More kindness and more creativity. The creative community has been so supportive and encouraging to me in the last year while I've opened two etsy shops and explored the Project Life world. I'm so thankful for that and for all of you.

Once I realized I wanted to provide more kindness and creativity throughout 2015, I thought about possible partners to team up with to create this movement and the first person I thought of was my dear friend (and creative babe,) Olya. When she heard my idea for a year long commitment to giving more and spreading kindness, she was immediately on board (yah!)

So what is "A Year of Kindness" in 2015? Each month, Olya and I will each be creating and sharing FREE printables for you! These can be anything from wall prints to project life cards, anything we feel like creating that month! For our announcement (this post) we teamed up together and made 8x10 printables that include her beautiful watercoloring and my hand lettering! We hope you enjoy!

I am so excited about this new project and can't wait to share more ways I plan to spread more kindness and joy in 2015 in a later post. If you want to see more of my design work, you can see my shop here: Laurel Lane Designs. If you want to see more of Olya's artwork and designs, you can see her shop here: Paint Paper Studio. Below I've shared a photo of my favorite printable from the set of five 8x10 printables we are sharing today! It was so easy to print at home, I used a little washi tape and added it to my gallery wall.

What message do you want to spread in 2015? Will you be using our "kindness" themed printables for your space? If so, please share photos with us. We would love to see them in your home!

You can download these free printables here. The pink set was inspired by an Ellen DeGeneres quote (love her!) And the blue set was the core message we are spreading this year- "Be Kind." To everyone you meet and especially those you love. Olya and I will be posting A Year of Kindness free printables on each of our blogs on the 5th of every month in 2015. We  hope you follow along with our journey to spread joy and are inspired to spread kindness in your own way as well.

Goal Setting and Free Printables!

In the beginning of the year, I shared some of my goals with you guys. I also made sure my One Little Word this year reflected those goals and would help me focus my energy and time into making those resolutions a reality. But how do you make sure those resolutions flourish into actual success throughout the year? For me, it's all about goal setting and list writing.

I am obsessed with lists. But I was finding that daily and weekly goal setting and list writing wasn't working for me. Instead, it left me feeling discouraged and unsuccessful when I didn't fulfill the tasks I had set for myself. This blog post isn't about my failures though. This post is all about how I changed the way I was setting goals, in order to find what works for me. And some free tools to get you started, too!

You know how looking at an inspiration board helps you feel inspired and focused on achieving your goals? Well I started off using that concept to build these amazing power sheets help me with my goal setting. Now, I have a whole binder that I use daily to document what I want, what I'm working towards and to document when I've achieved it.

I have discovered the awesomeness of monthly goal setting. Guys, I can't even explain how amazing this concept is. It changed everything for me. And here's why; If I need to take a sick day or want to spend an evening cuddling with my gorgeous boyfriend, I don't have to feel bad for the things I'm not getting done on my list. At the end of the day or week, I don't feel unaccomplished and lousy about how little I got done. Because I have the whole month to get these things done. What's even better, is that with monthly goal setting, I get to focus on the bigger picture and my long term goals instead of the mundane little tasks every day that distract from those.

You know the feeling you get when you look at your to-do list and realize that you didn't get anything done that day? You feel down right lousy. You loose all motivation... especially when you have to move all those tasks to the next day's list. Well, I don't have to worry about that anymore! Instead of worrying about how I didn't do the dishes on Monday or blog on Thursday, I get to look at the big picture every day. I get to see my life goals and how those translate into my monthly goals. Every time I check off one of my monthly goals, I do a little victory dance. That's how good it feels.

What's even better is that I have the freedom to choose which tasks I want to work on each day. If I don't feel like blogging today, no big deal. I can do it tomorrow. There's so much less stress and so much more freedom. And the best part, I created all these gorgeous pages to keep me on track this year and I'm sharing them with you, too!

There are a total of four power sheets to help you get things done. First and foremost, there's a sheet for your life goals. I LOVE this sheet. Looking at my life goals every time I open my binder really keeps things in perspective for me. It reminds me why I'm putting in all this hard work. There's also a sheet for your 2014 resolutions. Next up are my favorites. You have monthly goal sheets to help you write lists and get things done. There's also an amazing notes page to add after each monthly goal sheet. I ADORE these notes sheets. I use them to write encouraging reminders to myself, to keep myself accountable and to write about how the month went overall for me. What did I accomplish? Do I feel good about those successes? Where am I in terms of working hard to get the life I dream of? And, if I didn't accomplish some of the monthly goals, why? Did I change my mind about wanting to fulfill that particular goal? Did I see that it wasn't helping me work towards the bigger picture? What can I do to make better goals, ones that I can achieve and feel fantastic about afterwards?

I am so in love with this concept and I love having the tools to help me succeed. You can download your own power and goal sheets here. If you use these gorgeous sheets, I would love to hear from you. I encourage you to share your stories with me. I would love to see how you've used them and how they've helped you!

This year is off to a great start for me so far and I have this amazing concept to thank. I created my sheets about midway through January and managed to accomplish almost everything on my January monthly goal list in the remaining half of the month! I hope you love them as much as I have so far. I just love sharing all these little tips and tricks with you guys. Especially when I know how hard it can be to remain focused and determined throughout the year.

Things you can do to make these sheets extra special:
- Print them on heavy card stock. Mine are on 110lb card stock in 8.5x11 size. You can find big packs of this stuff at walmart and other retailers and let me tell you what, friends, it is so luxurious! I just love the thick paper and how durable it is, the air of importance it adds to my sheets.
- Put 'em in a binder! Having one place to go to look at all of your goals, dreams, resolutions, notes and lists is amazing. You'll always know where to find it, and it keeps them all working together. Each sheet serves a purpose, to enforce the one before it and keep you focused on the big picture. Use this to your advantage.
- Finally, share with others. Share your stories with me and your friends. What are your goals and resolutions this year? What do your life goals look like? What hard work are you putting in and how does writing it all down help you?

I can't wait to see what wonderful things you guys do this year. It's going to be a big year for me and I can't wait to share each little step with you along the way.

Happy Tuesday!

Laura

How I Created My Project Life Page for Free

I finally got started on my project life album and I can't wait to work on it diligently. I want to catch up on the last couple of months worth of pictures and journaling.
Today I wanted to share with you guys one of my pages made entirely of free printables. That's right, I found all of these lovely filler cards online for free! They coordinate with the midnight edition perfectly and you can download them here.

I adore how "collective" and random the cards in this layout are. It makes me smile. Please share links to your project life pages that use these free printables! I love seeing other people's creativity at work.

Free Project Life Printables!

The midnight edition of project life is finally available for purchase! I've waited months for it's release and can't wait to get started on my new scrapbook.

I've been working hard on scouring the web for free printables that coordinate with the midnight edition because from what I can tell, the core kits have a ton of repeat fill cards, and I want some variety in my books. To coordinate, I've decided to keep my filler cards to a black and white, grey and yellow color pallet with small pops of bright color here and there to keep things interesting.

For your pleasure- what I've found or made-
(Click on the images to download)

1. Gorgeous Grey Watercolor + Grey Chevron Printables
I absolutely love these gorgeous cards. I'll probably use these prints more than once in my scrap book. I found the Grey Watercolor project life cards here. I resized the "today" print as a 6x4 and the "you and me" print to be 3x4. I also designed coordinating grey chevron 3x4 filler cards. With plenty of space underneith the chevron design for journaling on your cards!

These filler cards are so lovely with just the right amount of color to give your pages some interest and variance from the standard color scheme without being clashy with the midnight edition of project life. These were all free prints I collected throughout the web and resized to fit into your project life pages!

These gorgeous quotes stick to the main color scheme and also coordinate the cursive font in the core kit. I scoured pinterest for some gorgeous quote prints and found these. Unfortunately I couldn't find the original sources to credit for the design but I  resized them to be 6x4 filler cards for your album.

These cards are sized to be 3x4 fillers in your project life albums. Found here. I added text for banners to the bottom of my pages because if you print on standard 8.5x11 paper, you have a large empty space on the bottom of your prints that's not quite big enough to fit another filler card. I'll cut these texts out and layer them over some patterned filler cards from the core kit.

That's all for today! I hope you guys enjoy these free prints and check out the ladies I linked to for some of the original designs. Such talented women, sharing their hard work with us. I'm also exctied for the reformatting and designing I did myself. Lots to learn about design but I'm getting a hang of the standard stuff. I can't wait to print of some pictures and get started on my new Project Life album using these freebies. Let me know if you guys would like to see more freebies and if so- what you'd like!
